2017 Camps and Workshops

Summer is fast approaching and the 4-H Summer Day Camps are a great way to spend some of that time!  Here is what we have going on this summer.  All events will be held at the Jackson County Extension Office unless otherwise noted.  Participants need to bring a sack lunch.

Poultry Perfection Workshop (1 day)
Date: June 2nd

Time: 9:30 AM – -2:00 PM
*Location: Washington County Ag Center Barn, 1424 Jackson Avenue, Suite A, Chipley, FL 32428
Cost:  $5

Ages:  5 and up

Learn how to exhibit poultry projects in local fairs and all about poultry judging

Tailgate Grilling Camp (3 days)
Date:  June 5th – 7th
Time: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Cost:  $50
Ages:  8 and up

Deadline:  June 1st

Cook up fun each day while you learn how to season and grill food like a pro! Intermediate youth (ages 11 and up) may compete at the District and State contests for cash prizes and college scholarships!  Wear closed-toed shoes and hair pulled back each day.

Area A 4-H Equine Clinic (1 Day) FLYER_Area A Equine Clinic

Date:  June 13th

Time:  9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

*Location:  Jackson County Ag Center, Hwy. 90, Marianna

Learn about the basic health and nutritional needs of your 4-H project horse.  Clinic is free and lunch is provided for current 4-H members.  Register at Eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.com/e/area-a-4-h-equine-clinc-tickets-34125613629 or with your county 4-H agent by June 5th.

Livestock Nutrition Workshop (1 day)     Workshop Flyer_Livestock Nutrition

Date:  June 29th

Time:  9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Cost:  $20

Ages:  5 and up

Learn about the basic nutritional needs of your 4-H project animal. Lunch provided.

4-H Poultry Education Workshop (This is a joint camp with Leon and Gadsden Counties.) (1 day)

Date:  July 7th

Time:  9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Cost: $20

Ages:  5 and up

Learn about chickens from embryology to the show ring or the chicken pen!

Goat Workshop -Youth & Adults (1 Day)  WORKSHOP FLYER and REGISTRATION_Basic Nutrition and Health of Goats

Ages:  8 and up

Learn about the basic needs of goats including nutrition, health and housing.

Livestock Skillathon Camp (2 – 1/2 days)

Date:  July 17th – 19th

Time:  8:30 – 11:30 AM

Cost:  $25

Ages:  8 and up

Test your skills and build your knowledge of livestock.

Engineering Challenge Camp (3 days)

Date:  July 25th – 27th

Time:  9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Cost:  $50

Ages:  8 and up

Come learn about building bridges and be prepared for the Engineering Challenge Competition at the North Florida!  *The last day of camp will be held in Tallahassee at the North Florida Fairgrounds for a competition with surrounding counties.  Transportation is provided.
