Water Quality BMP Training Workshop for Florida Cattle Ranchers
Web Site Purpose
The material provided on this web site are intended for use by county extension agents or other educators working directly with cattle producers. This site provides everything needed for a two-hour workshop on implementing BMPs for water quality with additional support materials, an interactive group activity, a BMP/IRM record book, an exit survey, and a follow up evaluation tool.
This workshop is intended as an introductory program to the Florida Cattlemen’s Association BMP manual and will explain the need for BMPs and the information contained in the 107 page BMP manual. The intent of this workshop is to provide instruction with practical examples of implementing BMPs on participants operations and how to document them.

| BMP Presentation (PowerPoint) | PowerPoint presentation for the workshop. Warning: this is a large file and may require 10 - 20 minutes to download. You must have Microsoft PowerPoint on your computer to use this presentation. Download to a computer with a CD writer or zip disk or directly onto the computer that presentations will be made from. You will need to save the file to a specific folder on your computer, or it will be located in a temporary file folder. |

| Ranch Records | Ranch record keeping book for tracking fertilization, grazing management, and pesticide application, as well a number of other key records for Integrated Resource Management of beef cattle ranches. This record book was set up for a herd of up to 100 cows and up to 12 fields or pastures. If more pages are needed for a herd, simply copy the four sheets for each additional field and copy enough cow history sheets for the additional cows. Other additional record sheets may also be need to be added for larger herds. |
| Exit Survey (.doc) | Exit survey to be used at the conclusion of the workshop. This survey was developed to provide feedback on the effectiveness of the information presented. This tool was designed to match agent accomplishment reporting. |
| Follow-up Evaluation (.doc) | Evaluation tool to use on individual ranch follow-up visits to document actual implementation of ranch conservation plan and BMPs. |
